Membership of “Kru Muaythai Association” (All members)

1.  Membership booklet (License Book) for all registered Khan/Grading and activities.

2. Sample of Khan/Grade certificate.

Every examination successfully passed, your teacher/kru will send a report to the KMA head office in Thailand and a certificate will be issued for each passing student. 

3. Once you have passed the examination and recognised as a qualified teacher/kru by the Kru Muaythai Association, you will receive a certificate issued by the KMA noting your Kru khan level, a membership card and your name will be registered on the Kru Muaythai website along with a list of your students.

THE AWARDING TITLE OF TEACHER (KRU, MASTER) IN MUAYTHAI BORAN

Muaythai Boran like any other martial art, has its own unique rules, etiquette and code of conduct. It was first part of the fighting system used on the battle ground by the warriors and has become an art of self-defense and sport today. Along the way it has been diluted to suit modern times. Some techniques, ideology and belief in certain respects that the martial arts are based on have been lost along the way. It has also become more commercialised.

Understandably, today’s martial art ideology, itself is still purely based on respect, character making and dedication to improving and educating the lives of the younger generations. Some are still interested in making a profit by selling belts or grades and certificates. This is demeaning to the belief in that martial art and the persons who practice.

Within the Kru Muaythai Association, (K.M.A ), our teachers, (KRU), Masters and officials must register their students and take examinations according to our curriculum and award their students correctly.

They must register each grade to our website and report to K.M.A every 3 months.

APPOINTMENT OF KRU (teacher/master) MUAYTHAI ASSOCIATION

There is already a system in place to award and give recognition in muaythai, which is similar to other martial arts. Within the K.M.A the policy we were given supports and recognizes anyone who works seriously, by following the progress of their work and the guide lines that are laid down by KMA. They should not be money motivated. You cannot buy khan grade or degree in K.M.A. The system of all levels of khan grades has been put together by the top grand masters of Thailand under the Kru Muaythai Association.

The Copyright belongs to the K.M.A, it is designed to promote and assist all of its members, teachers and students.

The titles of Kru (teacher, master) of Muaythai must be awarded from the motherland of the Art itself, with the officially ,recognized institute or officially registered association.

Self-awarding is considered shameful and insulting to the Masters and Grand Masters who have fulfilled all the criteria laid down within the KMA.

DUTY OF TEACHER (KRU) OF KRU MUAYTHAI ASSOCIATION

1. You must register and pay your yearly membership fee and constantly update and report to the K.M.A head office
2. Every time you conduct an examination (grading) you must send the results and a list of students who passed the examination to advance to another level. In return we

will send the official certificates for your students who passed the grade back to you.

In the case where you no longer want to be registered with K.M.A. we will send you 3 letters:

1. NOTICE OF EXPIRY; we will give you 1 month to respond. After 1 month we will send
2. Warning letter; this letter will state your membership invalid.
3. Letter of termination; this letter states the termination all the KMA certificates and titles awarded to you will be revoked. You cannot use any of our certificates, logos and/or documents in any shape or form to promote yourself or clubs to be member of KruMuaythai Association (K.M.A)

EXAMINATION OF KHAN 12 – 17

Kru Muaythai Association (KMA) has been registered and given full authority by mandate with permission. Strictly under the guidelines with the rules and regulations of the office of the National Culture Commission and the Ministry of Culture on 9 May 2003 (T.167/2546).

It brings together all masters and grand masters in the arts of muaythai and muayboran. By giving assistance to promote, register, support and develop the standard of the curriculum and structure for learning and teaching (khan grades, levels to be accepted as per educational programs) both nationally and internationally.

THIS IS THE PROCEDURE and STRUCTURE OF CURRICULUM

For basic learning and understanding of the art itself, K.M.A has set up students khan grades (levels) as follows;

Khan grade from 1-4 beginners. The examination between khans 1-2 cannot be less than 3 months from the exam result.

Khan grade from khan 5-7 intermediate.

Khan grade from khan 8-10 advance levels. As stated on the khan chart.

This khan grade has been set up to assess the students who wish to learn muaythai as a martial art.

After you have qualified to khan 10 (equal to black belt in other martial arts) you may wish to learn further as a trainee teacher – starting at khan 11.

After a duration of a minimum of 2 years then you may take the trainee kru (teacher) course and gain the experience from your senior or other teachers (kru or arjarn, master from K.M.A) persons of a higher khan than yourself.

After you have been recommended by your senior you may take the qualified teacher course and examination to achieve khan 12 kru (teacher)

For KHAN 12 who wish to get the higher 13 KHAN (KruYai) or Senior teacher within a duration of a minimum 3 years since you achieved khan 12 as kru (teacher) and proved that you have a school / camp, having sent reports of your activities to prove that you have students and sent reports of the students grades who passed their examinations. You must provide proof of the copy of the last khan certificate by K.M.A. and show a C.V. of your work in promoting muaythai and all the relevant activities in your country. Also,

having fully paid membership fees every year. Must register students record in the website up to 2 years .

For KHAN 13 kru yai (Senior teacher) who wish to get Mastership (Arjarn) title KHAN 14. Must have not less than 20 years experience in Muaythai and should not be less than the age of 40 years old. Must have had the status as Kru yai for not less than 3 years

This level has exceptional qualities and abilities to prove your work, knowledge and contribution to Muaythai in your country.

Must have a recommendation from another master of muaythai boran and your official and title proven copy of last khan certificate by K.M.A

You must present and explain yourself to the panel of senior grand masters who are designated to be the examiners by Kru Muaythai Association Executive Committee.

Must register students record in the website up to 3 years .

For KHAN 14 Arjarn ( Master) who wish to get Mastership (Assistant Grand Master) title KHAN 15. Must have not less than 20 years experience in Muaythai and should not be less than the age of 50 years old. Must have had the status as (Ajarn)Master for not less than 5 years. This level has exceptional qualities and abilities to prove your work, knowledge and contribution to Muaythai in your country.

Must have a recommendation from another master of muaythai boran and your official and title proven copy of last khan certificate by K.M.A

You must present and explain yourself to the panel of senior grand masters who are designated to be the examiners by Kru Muaythai Association Executive Committee.

Must register students record in the website up to five years.

AWARDING OF GRAND MASTERS

KHAN 15 ASSISTANT GRAND MASTER TO SENIOR GRAND MASTER KHAN 19

Associate senior grand master khan 18

SENIOR GRAND MASTER KHAN 19 Lifetime commitment and achievement at the highest level, should be not less than 65 years old

To be awarded at the highest level, all must be approved by senior grand master committee.

Duration between each khan, levels is a minimum of 7 years and you must be at least 65 years old .

It is not only the automatic timing between khans and a persons age that will be taken into consideration.

1. Must have good proven track record of work in K.M.A from all levels, e.g. paid up memberships and register of khan grade of your students every year.
2. Must be accepted and recommended by persons of a higher khan or senior representative. By sending your letter and application not less than 2 months before the 17^th March of that year.
3. Must have achieved, and be able to set up all the relevant courses and examining levels for their students in their country.

4. Must be willing to go before a panel of senior examiners and Grand Masters when applying to be awarded a higher khan.

All the above levels will be awarded on 17 March of every year in the WORLD WAI KRU CEREMONY IN AYUTTHAYA.

Please ensure when applying for a higher khan that you are eligible by fulfilling the criteria as stated above.
